So you have a dirty dog? Shampoo is a cleansing agent to remove dirt - and to nourish your dog's skin and coat.

As a former hairstylist, I always recommended you shampoo your dog twice. The first shampoo to remove the dirt and product build up, the second shampoo is to gain the benefits of the technology of ingredients in the shampoo. 

When washing your dog this is no different. While dogs may not have product build up, depending on how dirty they are and how often they are bathed you may need to shampoo twice.
